MALAYSIAN COPS TO INTERROGATE JUSTO IN THAILAND, SAYS IGP

REPORTED BY THE MALAYSIAN INSIDER

KUALA LUMPUR, (BERNAMA) November 28, 2015–
The Malaysian police will send a team to Thailand to interrogate Xavier Andre Justo on 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB), says Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar.

They (Thai police) are now willing to welcome our officers to interrogate Justo,” he told reporters after a parade of cadet inspectors at the Kuala Lumpur Police Training Centre in Kuala Lumpur today.

Justo was sentenced to three years' prison by a Bangkok criminal court on August 17 for blackmailing his former employer, PetroSaudi International, of 2.5 million Swiss francs (RM11 million) using stolen documents.

The 49-year-old Swiss became the focus of attention in Malaysia, following a joint venture between Petrosaudi and 1MDB.

On the meeting between PKR vice-president Nurul Izzah Anwar and Jacel Kiram, the daughter of self-style Sultan of Sulu Jamalul Kiram III, Khalid said the police would also summon Batu MP Chua Tian Chang to help investigations.

RELATEDPOLICE TO INTERVIEW 1MDB LEAKER JUSTO [THIS] WEEK

REPORTED BY FREE MALAYSIA TODAY

KUALA LUMPUR, November 28, 2015–
Police officers will record a statement [this] week from Xavier Andre Justo, who has admitted the sale of confidential company documents, to help investigations regarding 1Malaysia Development Bhd.
The Inspector-General of Police, Khalid Abu Bakar, said Thai authorities had already given their go-ahead. “They are ready to accept us,” he said, pointing out that the police had been busy with the Asean summit meetings last week.
So, in a week or two, we can interview Justo,” he told reporters this morning.
Justo, 49, is currently serving a three-year jail sentence for attempting to blackmail his former employer, PetroSaudi International, which was a joint venture partner of 1MDB.
He was arrested on June 22 at his home in Koh Samui, southern Thailand, after complaints that he had stolen documents and emails from the company and had demanded 2.5 million Swiss Franc (RM11 million) for them.
He was also alleged to have tried to sell the documents to Sarawak Report and Malaysian media personalities, which formed the basis of a series of reports on investments by 1MDB and financial transactions between 1MDB, PetroSaudi and Penang-born businessman Jho Low, among others.
Sarawak Report editor Claire Rewcastle; the publisher and owner of The Edge media group, Ho Kay Tat and Tong Kooi Ong; and opposition politicians Tony Pua and Nurul Izzah Anwar were implicated in subsequent reports about Justo and the leaked documents.

RELATED: MALAYSIAN POLICE TO INTERVIEW XAVIER JUSTO [THIS] WEEK

REPORTED BY THE STAR ONLINE

KUALA LUMPUR, November 28, 2015–
Malaysian police have been given access to interview Xavier Andre Justo and will be sending a team to talk to him by [this] week.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said police had already received the invitation from their Thailand counterparts earlier but were busy with the Asean Summit and related summits.

"Now that we [are] done, we will be sending a team there to talk to him and look at the evidence there either this week or next," he said at press conference at the Police Training Centre (Pulapol) here Saturday.

Justo, a Swiss national, is said to be the source of leaked documents on PetroSaudi International's (PSI) multibillion ringgit joint-venture with 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) that purportedly suggest that hundreds of millions were siphoned out.

According to past reports, the Swiss national had attempted to blackmail and extort 2.5mil Swiss Francs from PSI over the release of these purportedly incriminating documents.

Justo later admitted to the blackmail charges to the Thai police and provided information on the data from PSI that he had stolen when he left the firm in 2011.

He is now serving a three-year jail sentence in Thailand for the blackmail.
