INTERVIEW WITH 1MDB LEAKER JUSTO POSTPONED
Khalid said Malaysian police had been ready for the interview with Justo in Bangkok.

REPORTED BY FREE MALAYSIA TODAY

KUALA LUMPUR, December 5, 2015–
Thai authorities have requested a postponement of an interview of 1MDB leaker Xavier Andre Justo by Malaysian police, which had been scheduled for Tuesday, according to the Inspector-General of Police, Khalid Abu Bakar.
The Thai authorities had set December 8 as the date for us to interview Justo,” he said in Serdang today. “But on Friday I was informed that they have requested a postponement and they will give us a later date.”
Khalid said Malaysian police had been ready for the interview with Justo in Bangkok.
Justo, a Swiss national, is a former executive of PetroSaudi International, a joint venture partner of the federal goverment investment fund 1Malaysia Development Bhd. who is serving a three-year jail sentence for attempting to blackmail his former employer. He left PetroSaudi in 2011.
He was previously reported to have confessed to having stolen documents and emails from PetroSaudi and to have attempted to extort 2.5 million Swiss francs from PetroSaudi for the documents.
Justo has been reported to be the source of leaks relating to a PetroSaudi deal with 1MDB. News reports based on the leaked documents have insinuated the embezzlement of hundreds of millions in US dollars.
He was arrested at a resort in Koh Samui island, south Thailand, and has implicated Clair Rewcastle, editor of Sarawak Report; Ho Kay Tat and Tong Kooi Ong, publisher and owner of The Edge; and Tony Pua, MP for Petaling Jaya Utara; as among those involved in negotiations for the purchase of the stolen documents.
The federal government has taken action against Sarawak Report and The Edge for their reporting on 1MDB.

RELATEDTHAI AUTHORITIES TO CONFIRM JUSTO MEET AT A LATER DATE, IGP SAYS

KUALA LUMPUR, December 5, 2015–
Thai authorities will confirm with Malaysian police on the meeting date with former PetroSaudi International executive Xavier Andre Justo, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) said today.

According to The Star Online, Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said that he was informed by his Thai counterpart of the postponement on Friday.

Earlier, the Thai authorities set December 8 as the date for us to interview Justo. But on Friday, I was informed that they have requested to postpone the interview and they will give us a later date,” he was quoted as saying to reporters in Serdang.

The report, however, did not provide further details on why the Thai authorities decided to postpone the meeting.

Khalid has promised several times earlier this week and last month to send a probe team from Bukit Aman to investigate Justo’s claim of having met with Malaysian opposition politicians to sell classified information.

The 49-year-old Swiss national was arrested by the Thai police on June 22 after PetroSaudi International lodged a police report that he had blackmailed the company, which had established a joint venture with 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB).

Justo was sentenced to three years in jail on August 17 after pleading guilty to blackmailing his former employer.

RELATED: IGP: THAI POLICE HAVE POSTPONED JUSTO INTERVIEW TO LATER DATE

REPORTED BY THE STAR ONLINE

KUALA LUMPUR, December 5, 2015–
The Thai authorities have requested to postpone the interview of Xavier Andre Justo to a later date, said Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar.

Earlier, the Thai authorities set December 8 as the date for us to interview Justo. But on Friday I was informed that they have requested to postpone the interview and they will give us a later date,” he told reporters here on Saturday.

Khalid said that although the date had been postponed, police were ready for their officers to interview Justo in Bangkok.

It was reported Malaysian police have been allowed to interview Xavier Andre Justo and will be sending a team to Thailand next week.

Justo, a Swiss national, is said to be the source of leaked documents on PetroSaudi International’s (PSI) multi-billion ringgit joint-venture with 1Malaysia Development Berhad that purportedly suggested that hundreds of millions had been siphoned out.

According to past reports, Justo allegedly attempted to blackmail and extort 2.5mil Swiss Francs from PSI over the release of these purportedly incriminating documents.

Justo later admitted the blackmail charges to the Thai police and provided information on the data from PSI that he had stolen when he left the firm in 2011.

He is now serving a three-year jail sentence in Thailand for the blackmail.
